Scalp Massager Benefits: What It Does, and What It Doesn't

The honest version: relaxation, a cleaner scalp and serum where it belongs. Not a treatment for anything. Plus the three types and who each one is for.
Scalp massagers are everywhere right now, and so are the claims. Some of what you read is true, some is exaggerated, and some crosses into medical promises no beauty tool should make. Here's what a scalp massager actually does, what it doesn't, and how to pick one.
This is the part most product pages skip. A scalp massager is a cosmetic and relaxation tool. It is not a medical device, and no massager we sell is a treatment for hair loss, dandruff, psoriasis or any other condition. If you're losing hair or your scalp is sore, flaky or inflamed, talk to a dermatologist. A massager can sit alongside whatever your doctor recommends; it isn't a substitute for it.
You'll see studies quoted online about massage and hair thickness. They're small, and we don't make claims based on them. We'd rather you buy a massager because the routine feels good and helps your serum go further.
Soft silicone bristles, used in the shower with shampoo. Best for anyone with product buildup, an itchy scalp from dry shampoo, thick hair, braids or extensions. Cheapest, simplest, and the one we'd start with. Ours: the MELLINA Scalp Massage Shampoo Brush.
A refillable chamber and hollow pins. Fill it with your serum or oil, comb through, and it releases at the root. Best for anyone already using a scalp serum who wants it on the scalp, not the strands. Ours: the MELLINA Scalp Serum Applicator Comb.
Vibration, sometimes with gentle warmth or a light feature, sometimes with a built-in applicator. Best for the relaxation side: a few minutes at the end of the day, the spa-at-home feeling. Our Scalp Pro combines vibration, infrared warmth and an applicator; the RF comb and Red Light comb are cordless and more compact.
Start with the shampoo brush and the applicator comb together; the Scalp Starter Set takes 15% off when both are in your cart. Add an electric massager later if you find yourself wanting the ritual every evening.
